Official Rules

Description of Contest

The first annual Arkansas Red Belly Invitational will be held on August 18, 2001 at Wild River Country in North Little Rock, AR. The contest will be a true “belly flop” contest in which contestants will dive into a pool, and complete the best belly flop they are able to. The contest will begin with pre-qualifying at 10:00am the morning of the event, with the final event taking place at or around 2:00pm. Please see below for a brief description of rules, weight classes, and other specifics.

Contestant Requirements

Contestants will be required to “pre-qualify” for the event at Wild River Country at 10:00am the morning of the event. Judging at the pre-qualification will be completed by Wild River Country staff. Each contestant will be required to weigh in at the time of pre-qualifying, and will be required to sign a waiver releasing Wild River Country from any and all liability from injury as a result of participating in the event.

Wild River Country reserves the right to limit the number of contestants entering the competition to the first 100 entries.

Children under the age of 18 will be required to have a parent or guardian present at the time of the competition, and sign an additional liability waiver. No child under the age of 18 will be allowed to enter the competition without an adult present.

Official Rules and copies of the waiver will be available at Wild River Country.

Judging

Five (5) non-partial judges as determined by Wild River Country will be responsible for judging the event. The judges will base their scores from a scale of 1-10 in the following areas: Style & Creativity, Height of Splash, Sound and Impact, and Costume. In the event of a tie, the contestants will be asked to perform their dives again until a decision can be reached by the judges using the scoring method described above.

Schedule of Events

9:00am Registration for Red-Belly Invitational begins. All contestants must register at the WRC ticket booth.
10:00am Park Opens – pre-qualification begins.
11:00am Registration closes. Pre-qualifying ends
2:00pm Contest Begins

Eligibility and Limitations

Participants and winner(s) must be U.S. residents at least 18-years old as determined by Wild River Country. A parent or guardian of any participant who is a minor must sign a release on behalf of the minor to be eligible to receive a prize, but Wild River Country reserves the right to refuse to award a prize to or on behalf of any minor. Employees of Wild River Country and members of the immediate family of any such persons are not eligible to participate and win. The term “immediate family” includes spouses, siblings, parents, children, grandparents, and grandchildren, whether as “in-laws,” or by current or past marriage(s), remarriage(s), adoption, co-habitation or other family extension, and any other persons residing at the same household whether or not related.

Publicity

By participating, all participants and winner(s) grant Wild River Country permission to use their names, characters, photographs, voices, and likenesses in connection with promotion of this and other contests and waive any claims to royalty, right, or remuneration for such use.

Release

By participating, each participant and winner waives any and all claims of liability against Wild River Country, its employees and agents, for any personal injury or loss which may occur from the conduct of, or participation in, the contest, or from the use of any prize.

Taxes

Wild River Country is not the sponsor of cash prizes for the Red Belly Invitational. Any valuation of the prize(s) awarded by Wild River Country as stated above is based on available information provided to Wild River Country, and the value of any prize awarded to a winner may be reported for tax purposes as required by law. Each winner is solely responsible for reporting and paying any and all applicable taxes. Each winner must provide Wild River Country with valid identification and a valid taxpayer identification number or social security number before any prize will be awarded. Prizes are not transferable or redeemable for cash. Any person winning over $600 in prizes from Wild River Country will receive an IRS form 1099 at the end of the calendar year and a copy of such form will be filed with the IRS.

Decisions

Wild River Country reserves the right to disqualify any participant or winner and may refuse to award any prize to a person who is ineligible or has violated any rule, gained unfair advantage in participating in the contest, or obtained winner status using fraudulent means. Further, Wild River Country will resolve any disputes, conflicting claims or ambiguities concerning the rules and Wild River Country’s decisions concerning such disputes shall be final. All decisions will be made by Wild River Country and are final. Wild River Country may waive any of these rules in its sole discretion.

Miscellaneous

Each winner must submit proof of eligibility and sign Wild River Country’s release form to claim the prize. No purchase necessary to participate or win. Void where prohibited. Odds of winning depend upon the number of participants. Wild River Country may substitute prizes of equivalent value, amend the rules or discontinue the contest at any time as announced on the Wild River Country. Wild River Country disclaims any responsibility to notify participants of any aspect related to the conduct of this contest. Written copies of these rules are available during normal business hours at the business offices of the Wild River Country and by mail upon written request with a stamped, self-addressed return envelope.

Compliance with Law

The conduct of this contest is governed by the applicable laws of the Unites States of America, which take precedence over any rule to the contrary herein. Wild River Country shall follow the applicable laws for conducting contests, including notice to the state attorney general or consumer affairs office, posting of a prize bond, furnishing lists of winners, running specific on-air disclaimers, providing specific written information about the contest, etc. as required by local and state law.
